The Case for a Creator by Lee Strobel has just won a Gold Medallion Award and Christianity Today Book Award. Here's its description:

“My road to atheism was paved by science . . . But, ironically, so was my later journey to God.”—Lee Strobel
During his academic years, Lee Strobel became convinced that God was outmoded, a belief that colored his ensuing career as an award-winning journalist at the Chicago Tribune. Science had made the idea of a Creator irrelevant—or so Strobel thought. But today science is pointing in a different direction. In recent years, a diverse and impressive body of research has increasingly supported the conclusion that the universe was intelligently designed. At the same time, Darwinism has faltered in the face of concrete facts and hard reason. Has science discovered God? At the very least, it’s giving faith an immense boost as new findings emerge about the incredible complexity of our universe. Join Strobel as he reexamines the theories that once led him away from God. Through his compelling and highly readable account, you’ll encounter the mind-stretching discoveries from cosmology, cellular biology, DNA research, astronomy, physics, and human consciousness that present astonishing evidence in The Case for a Creator. Also available in mass market and audio CD editions.

Be sure to visit the book's website.

Here are a few questions taken from the book's free discussion guide (PDF).

How do you respond to Harvard geneticist Richard Lewontin’s opinion that science should
be seen as “the only begetter of truth”?

Is that a scientific or a philosophical statement?

How much confidence do you put in science?

What do you believe are the limits of science?

What ways are there to know about something apart from the scientific method?

What preconceptions or prejudices might inhibit your investigation of the scientific
evidence for a Creator?

What can you do to set them aside and keep an open mind?

What do you hope this investigation of the case for a Creator will personally accomplish for you?

I read this book recently and was greatly impressed by it. I apprecated Mr. Strobel easy and personal style with a complex and emotional subject while not lacking in technical substance and intellectual integrity. Very well written. It prompted me to read his two other books, "The Case for Christ" and "The Case for Faith". I would definitely recommend this for the serious student of Science who is interested in more than the cursory pablum of popular theories propogated by today's media and an entrenched educational system.

Hi. I'm an atheist and I'm venturing into enemy territory! cool

Basically, Strobel's "Case for..." apologetics are just nonsense. I run a small skeptical site where my small personal mission is to debunk Lee Strobel. I confess, I'm an amateur. I'm not an expert on any of the topics. The approach I used in my CfaC critique was to use a similar approach as Strobel, relying upon experts in the fields.

Check out my site at: www.caseagainstfaith.com! devilish
